　　Step 1 Warming－up

　　1.Greetings

　　Revision.

　　Have a chain drill.

　　T: Next Sunday is Mother鈥檚 Day. What will you give to your mother, Peter?

　　S1:I鈥檒l give her a box of chocolates （show the object）。 What about you, Li Ming?

　　S2:I鈥檒l give her a beautiful card （show the card）。 What about you, Jack?

　　S3:I鈥檒l give her 鈥︹��

　　Step 2 Practice

　　1.Show a gift box and say:

　　T:Look,this is a gift I鈥檒l give to my mother. Please guess what it is in.

　　S1:Is it a beautiful card?

　　S2:Is it a box of chocolates?

　　S3:Are they any flowers?

　　S4: 鈥︹��

　　T: Please open it, Lucy. What鈥檚 in it?

　　Ss:Oh,it鈥檚 a scarf, a beautiful scarf.

　　Books open.

　　Ss read the dialogue in Part C and practice role-playing it in pairs.

　　Pair work.

　　Encourage the students to Role-play similar dialogues using their own gifts.

　　S2: Wow！ How nice！ Thank you.

　　Step 3 Presentation and read

　　1. Show a girl and say,This is Jane ,she鈥檚 looking so sad. Do you know why? Now let me tell you. She doesn鈥檛 have money to buy a gift for her mother on Mother鈥檚 Day. What can he do? Please help her.

　　2. Ss talk about their ideas.

　　3. Teach the new words and expressions, fan,lucky stars,coloured paper.

　　4. Ss read the dialogue in Part D by themselves.

　　T explains some difficult points.

　　5. Finish the exercises below. Then check the answers.

　　Step 4 Do reading exercises.

　　Today is Mother鈥檚 Day. I can make a card for Mom. I write 鈥淭o my dear Mom鈥� on the card. I write 鈥淚 love you.鈥� Wish you鈥檙e happy every day on the card. I draw a lovely dog on it, too. Mom and I like dogs very much. I give the card to Mom. Mom is happy. He says, 鈥淭hank you, Jack.鈥�
